Wendy Hardie is an emerging expanded photographic artist using alternative analogue processes embedded in or created with performative sculptural & installation based forms. With a passion & deep respect for the land born out of a childhood growing up on a small tenant farm on Scotland’s River Tay, her work focuses on human narratives in relationship to our now critically fragile Anthropocene environment. Her practice analyses, interrogates & viscerally & metaphorically revisualizes in an attempt to open up our consciousness to a significantly more porous, delicately interwoven planet. It is also an emphatic celebration & expression of the psychological & spiritual power landscape & nature bestows on us & a visual journey to find more sustainable, sensitive ways to harness that sublime power. Multi form series built over years with rigorous contextual & site specific materiality, her layered, allegorical image making increasingly works with plants to find more sustainable photographic processes.
London & Scotland based, Hardie has an architecture degree & has had a multi awarded environmental art practice, with photography a core tool throughout. Taught by experienced alt process photographers since 2018, exhibiting & collected from 2021, she has been selected by international open calls for publications & ambitious environmental photography exhibitions across England, curated a large London experimental analogue photography show & has a commissioned photobook in progress.
