White Hart Lane Station Tottenham, London.
Collaborating Artist and Designer with Adam Brown of Landolt + Brown Architects. 2014 – 2016. New station and public realm design from inception to full planning consent. Of particular significance is the creation of a high level architectural screen of bespoke (high strength and performance) horticultural terracotta pots which connect to the immediate area’s long history with terracotta and particularly of horticultural clay pot production and market gardening.
Sadly the project was awarded to another architect attached under the umbrella of a design and build contracter by the lead client TfL to do detail design and build, selected principally for lower cost which most often goes back up during contract, against the other client Haringey Council’s wishes. So the control of the design and art installation is no longer with us.
Upon completion it is obvious the built project has digressed considerably in areas, with impactful compromises in material choice, quality and detailing which has significantly affected the integrity of the original design and it’s connection to the area’s historic narrative, most evidently the quality and look of the exterior screen and frame.
